Frequently Asked Questions
This page provide answers to frequently asked questions about Bogbean Farm, our products and services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Topic A

Question 1: How do I send a herb to be identified?

Answer: It is best to send a dried, pressed sample showing the leaf formation and preferably a pressed flower portion. These can be sent in-between two pieces of cardboard. Please Note that because of quarantine restrictions this service is only available in Western Australia at present. We are seeking similar service providers in other states and will list them in our resource and referral register as they become known to us.

Topic B

Question 1: What volume of herbs will you buy?

Answer: Bogbean Farm will purchase any amount of herbs over 500g dried weight.

Question 2: Is there a list of herbs I can grow?

Answer: The market trends for different herbs differ very much from herb to herb. There are a certain herbs that have a high turn over and hence are in high demand, peppermint and chamomile could be given as examples of high turn over herbs. Certain herbs such as guaiacum and boldo are longer term projects are becoming harder to obtain. For an up to date listing of recommended herbs and current growing trends it is best to contact Bogbean farm directly for more information.

Topic C

Question 1: Louise, thanks for your service. I'm a keen backyard grower of mainly culinary herbs. How do I find out more about drying procedures and getting optimal moisture content for such herbs as marjoram and thyme.

AnswerOne of the easiest ways would to be to join our network of growers, this would give you information available online that will answer many of your questions, plus you will be able to contact other growers and discuss your growing ventures with them. The cost for membership is just $35 per year and this helps you to stay in the herbal loop.
